Coal mining in Wales is a tradition going back to the Middle Ages. Mildenhall, the first coal mine in Wales, opened in 1425 and by 1851 there were over 1000 mines across Glamorgan and Monmouthshire. Big business takes from man hard work and labour. It has gone on for 100s of years.
